Barrett + Brian: A Very Logan Square Wedding

Barrett + Brian celebrated their DIY wedding with friends and family in their favorite Chicago neighborhood. They brought together Brian’s family from California, and Barrett’s family from Florida, for a weekend in Logan Square, showing off their favorite neighborhood spots to their guests - from their bachelor parties at Starapolska and Moonlighter, ending in a late night karaoke meet up at Alice’s, to a couple’s stroll through Humboldt Park before their ceremony at Michelle’s Ballroom

Their reception featured Big Star catering, a pink Instax camera, DIY vases and decor, a magnificent pink cake, baked by Barrett, himself, and decorated with succulents from Teka Slagle’s floral collection - and lots, and lots of dancing!!! The night ended with an afterparty meet up at Sleeping Village, and a lot of happy people.

Sunday was spent leisurely with friends and family picnicking at the Logan Square farmer’s market, while guests could check out music and other festivities at the Logan Square Festival just down the street.

Congrats, Barrett + Brian!

Engaged: Marlene + Cory

Marlene + Cory wanted to show off some of their local haunts. We met at their favorite Humboldt Park mural with Hiro, their (matching!) white Shiba pup, who was just as excited to frolic in the field as they were. Hiro let the two of them play on their own for a while, and waved us goodbye for our next stop.

Marlene + Cory enjoy a good Chicago speakeasy, so I followed them to The Blind Barber for a visit at their bar and some private cocktails.

This couple’s got swag - super excited to shoot their wedding this fall!

Kat + Dan

Kat + Dan got married in mid-August at Heritage Prairie Farms. The groom and his groomsmen got ready in the dapper groom’s suite - dressing themselves with leather suspenders and matching cuff links, while the ladies were upstairs in the bridal suite.

The outdoor ceremony was lined with white chairs and a beautifully flowered alter, looking out to the fields and gardens of the farm. Guests were shaded by the sun with dainty, white parasols, and were given flower petal confetti to throw at the bride and groom as they walked down the aisle as husband and wife.

The bride and groom spent a few sweet moments in the light-strung barn, and as the sun gently set, guests found their seats in the tent, clad with vintage plates of various colors and designs, mason jars, and luscious accents of eucalyptus and pink roses. Jars of Heritage Prairie Farm honey were set out for the guests to take home.

As the night drew closer, the party got started and the bride and groom danced the night away. The night was capped off with a series of paper lanterns that the guests got to send off into the skies.
